Financial Coaching and Retirement Advice

One-on-One Counseling

Your retirement benefits also include one-on-one consultations with your retirement plan provider, as well as events and webinars where you can learn even more. You can view a current list on the Events and Webinars.

Schedule a consultation with your investment provider(s) by phone or in person. Be sure to have your financial account statements handy (including statements for retirement investments outside of your USG retirement plans) and your most recent Social Security statement, if available.

Understanding Your Plan Fees and Expenses

Participants in the plan generally pay for three categories of plan-related costs:

  • Recordkeeping fees (paid to the plan’s recordkeepers) are assessed based on a percentage of your account balance and will vary by provider, as shown in the “How Fees Are Assessed” chart below.
  • Administrative fees (paid to the plan’s investment consultant, auditors, accountants, outside counsel and other administrative resources) are paid out of the investment expenses charged by the providers of the funds in which you are invested. These fees are based on a percentage of your account balance and will vary by provider, as shown in the “How Fees Are Assessed” chart below.
  • Investment expenses are taken out of individual investments by the managers of the funds in which participants are invested.
