USG Retiree Healthcare Rates: Retirees hired on or after January 1, 2013

Employees hired on or after January 1, 2013, who retire after January 1, 2023, are subject to the Years of Service policy at the time of retirement. The years of service chart applies to:

• Pre-65 retirees enrolled in a USG Healthcare plan
• Retirees 65 and older enrolled in a supplemental healthcare or pharmacy plan through Alight Retiree Health Solutions.

  For employees hired on or after January 1, 2013, who retire on or after January 1, 2023, the employer contribution will be prorated based on your Years of Service with USG or the State of Georgia.

  1. Calculate your years of service and find the applicable percentage on the Years of Service Chart above
  2. Based on the healthcare plan that you are currently enrolled in, take the monthly employer rate listed below
  3. Multiply the employer contribution percentage x the monthly employer rate

  Note: If a retiree meets the definition of a retiree as defined under the Board of Regents  8.2.8.2 and 8.2.8.4 (career state), USG will recognize former state service as years of service for the employer contribution. 

65 and older USG Retiree Healthcare Rates

Your USG retiree healthcare benefit is an annual contribution to your Health Reimbursement Account (HRA).  This HRA account is employer-funded by USG and can be used to reimburse yourself for eligible expenses you have paid out of pocket, such as Medicare Part B costs, as well as premiums for healthcare, prescription drug, vision, and dental coverage purchased through Alight Retiree Health Solutions.

  2025 Annual Contribution

  For employees hired on or after January 1, 2013,  USG’s contribution for Post-65 retiree healthcare is based on your years of service with the University System of Georgia. This means retirees age 65 and over will receive a percentage of $2,640 annually to your HRA for both you and your Medicare-enrolled spouse, up to 100%. 

  Note: In order to remain eligible for this contribution, you must remain continuously enrolled in a Medicare Supplement, Medicare Advantage, or Medicare Prescription Drug Plan through ARHS. If you retire mid-year, your first HRA contribution will be prorated based on the date you enroll in an eligible Supplemental health plan with ARHS. 

  To calculate the amount that USG will contribute to your HRA in 2025,  follow these steps or use the retiree healthcare contribution calculator:

  1. Calculate your years of service and find the applicable percentage on the Years of Service Chart above
  2. Multiply the employer contribution percentage x the $2,640

  65 and older retiree with 10 years of service
  Enrolled in Medicare and a Medicare Supplement,  Medicare Advantage, or Medicare Prescription Drug plan with Alight Retiree Health Solutions

  USG annual employer contribution:	$554.40
